Common Sense—Support Our Troops

C

Common Sense—Support Our Troops. Up to now that has been a non-political issue. But that’s changed. Obama changed it. We’re talking about a tradition that goes back to the Revolutionary War.

I don’t care which side of the political aisle you stand on, supporting our troops should never be a political issue.

The good Lord gave me a grain of sense, and I use it to analyze any President’s words. I just don’t blindly accept them. Sometimes I agree. Sometimes I don’t.

Everyone I know has more grains of sense than I do, and I’m sure analyze even more than I do. They don’t accept a President’s words simply because he says them. If they did, it would remind me of the old TV commercial where the guy with indigestion says, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing.” Translation—I can’t believe I swallowed every word the President said.

Obama’s front person was on TV saying Bowe Bergdahl served with honor, while the men who served in his platoon were saying he walked away. I’m not good on semantics. Is Susan Rice saying our troops lied? Does she have some kind of psychic powers we are not aware of, because she wasn’t over there at the time? Way to go Susan. Support our troops.

The Army charged Bergdahl with desertion. But what has Obama done in the meantime? He’s released five of the worse, if not the worst, Taliban prisoners from Gitmo in exchange for Berdahl. Surely this has to rank among the top stupidities of warfare in the history of mankind. Those five were the five the Taliban wanted released.

The five are theoretically in Qatar at the moment under the watchful eye of the state department. Are you serious? When given the chance these terrorists will reunite with their terrorist brigade. Anyone heard of the Internet? You don’t think these terrorists are in contact with their buddies, directing operations at this very moment?

Wait, a side moment. A deal with Iran? That has to be in the top five of stupidity deals as well. I have trouble keeping all of these countries straight. I believe the U. S. air strikes are aiding the Saudis in Yemen or Syria, while the Saudis are fighting the Iranian-back forces there. And we are going to make a deal with Iran?

And what of the soldiers who died looking for Bergdahl after he deserted. I don’t know the exact number. I saw the parents of two on TV. Facebook has a picture from a TV station of a wife who appeared with her husband who was severely injured while looking for Bergdahl.

What did Obama do to honor these injured and dead soldiers? He invited Bergdahl’s parents to the Rose Garden for a ceremony to announce the release of Bergdahl. Bergdahl’s father said something in Arabic, I assume, in honor of the terrorists. Really? Did he say anything in American about the soldiers who died looking for Bergdahl? I didn’t hear it. Did You? They bled red American blood and moaned in English before they died. Way to go Obama. Support our troops.

The weeping New York Times said Bergdahl has been punished enough, that his five years in captivity is sufficient. Might they have suggestions for how to punish the parents of the dead soldiers who looked for Bergdahl after he deserted? I think theirs is a permanent punishment called, “Our boys are dead, and they will never walk the streets like you want Bergdahl to do.” Way to go New York Times. Support our troops.

No administration ever gets it right all the time. People will argue Bush’s Iraq war was wrong. That Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction.

I’m not sure what you call killing thousands of your own people with chemical weapons. Whether Hussein had any more at the time the U. S. invaded seems to me to be a non-debatable point. How long would it have taken for him to manufacture more?

Are chemical weapons, weapons of mass destruction? They are certainly effective if you look at the faces and physical conditions of those who died. Chemical  weapons affect the central nervous system in such a devastating manner even after a horrible death, the pallor and pain remains fixated on the faces of the dead.

If that means nothing to you, try this. If you’re bitten by a coral snake or a cobra or a black mamba, it affects the central nervous system. Rattlesnakes and cottonmouths affect the muscles. Which would you prefer?

People supported our troops in Iraq. Politics didn’t matter. 9/11 did, and we were striking back.

What Obama has done should outrage every U. S. citizen. When the terrorists come over here to behead a few of us, or maybe more, we will be ready to take the fight to them.

It is important we support our troops now and for every eventuality down the road.

Unless there is a 180, there is no reason to believe Obama will ever do that. Way to go Barack Hussein Obama. Support our troops.

And quit saluting the Marine as you exit the helicopter on the White House lawn. The person who salutes that Marine, should be the person who believes in that Marine and every other honorable service person he/she represents.
